letter from our ceoFamily Services' mission is to promote the school readiness of children, the well-being of adults and families, and the safety of those in the community impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Family Services has a tradition of providing meaningful solutions to those in need and continues to have an impact in many dimensions - the person, the family and the community. Since the inception of our agency in 1905, we have been about families. By never losing sight of our first simplistic mission of helping children and families, we successfully navigated our way through the different dynamics of family makeup and the ever-changing needs of the community. Yet, one thing has remained constant; we have always been here to provide lasting solutions. Staying true to our philosophy of strengthening families by building safer, healthier communities, our staff and volunteers work on all levels and with many partners. As a leader in the social services arena, we continually work to create positive impact: Through targeted collaboratives with government and community partners, we have the opportunity to cement the critical linkage necessary to stop family violence. Through focused efforts with agencies such as United Way and local foundations, we are able to address critical community issues by providing high quality affordable professional counseling services. Through collaborations with local churches and universities, we engage talented and dedicated volunteers who give countless hours of service to children and adults. The "heart" continues to be the central feature of our logo. It is not by accident. It serves as a silent reminder that our mission of service must not only be one of professionalism and effectiveness, but also a mission that is delivered with the compassion and dignity inherent in the human spirit. It is the heart of Family Services that thrives and inspires the wonderful minds of our staff, board of directors, community partners and investors. We are fortunate to have a rich history and I am honored to help continue the legacy laid down in 1905. Ever-mindful of our vision "strong families in healthy communities," I look forward to the future solutions we discover for our communities' families. Alfred C. Renna, M.A. |
