Reassurance Program Overview

Reassuring Care for Independent Seniors

Reassurance is a service for isolated seniors and other homebound persons in our community who wish to continue living independently as long as is safely possible. Through daily personal contact, we monitor the safety and health and provide referrals to assist independent seniors in leading the lifestyle they desire. A Reassurance call from a volunteer who has completed a nationally accredited training program provides these benefits:

Socialization and friendly conversation with a caring person on a daily basis.
Identification and monitoring of risk factors and changes in the service participant's health.
Prevention of unnecessary healthcare costs and preservation of the participant's dignity through early referral to services that support independent living.

The Caring Process
Reassurance will schedule a free, daily phone call at a convenient time to check on the client's well-being.

If there is no answer to the Reassurance call, our volunteer will call a family member of caregiver to verify the client's safety.

In the event that the senior client's well-being cannot be verified, our volunteer will send emergency services to the home.

And, as needed, Reassurance will suggest additional services that can further help the senior client lead an independent life.

Clients are provided with a number they can use 24-hours a day to notify Reassurance if they will not be home to receive their scheduled call. Clients should also advise Reassurance regarding any changes in their health, caregivers, etc.
